Position: Marketing & Member Engagement Assistant
Salary: $15/hr for 35 hours per week
Dates: May 3, 2021 – August 27, 2021 for 35 hours per week
Hours: 35 hours per week, with regular Saturday and Sunday shifts
Basic Qualifications:
Must be enrolled in a post-secondary institution; students enrolled in their 2nd or 3rd year in the field of Public Relations & Marketing are preferred. Job experience in public relations and marketing/communications. Good written, oral communication and organizational skills; personable and professional presence and the ability to multitask projects simultaneously. Strategic planning experience an asset.
Position Profile:
Under supervision, you will assist in the planning, design and implementation of marketing materials, promotional projects and downtown events. Act as a liaison between the Downtown Dartmouth Business Commission and the wider community. Greet visitors at the information Kiosk as required.
Position Specifications, Dimensions & Tasks:
Promotions & event planning:
1.1 Assist in the overall promotion of Downtown Dartmouth through program development and delivery
1.2 Assist in the design, writing and preparation of promotional and information materials about the DDBC and its events (brochures, flyers, posters, PSA’s, press kits etc.)
1.3 Respond to inquiries from Board Members and other members of the downtown community
1.4 Visit businesses and update the DDBC business directory, including webpage updates
1.5 Help to develop, implement and evaluate summer community events
1.6 Assist in acquiring donations for events and prizes
1.7 Assist in the management of social media postings including taking and sharing photographs & create videos.
1.8 Prepare an inventory of downtown land and building owners and available real estate listings.
1.9 Analyze communications opportunities and provide recommendations to be incorporated into a communications plan
1.10 Assist in the analysis of corporate partnership/sponsorship opportunities
Administrative duties:
2.1 Attend DDBC meetings as deemed necessary by the Executive Director
2.2 Assist the Office Manager in the day to day operation
2.3 Assist the Director of Communications and Marketing with projects and events
2.3 Ensure accurate records and reports are kept and submitted at the end of the summer
2.4 Work availability 35 hours per week requiring regular availability on Saturdays and Sundays. Any overtime accrued will be reimbursed with time off
Disseminate information to the public:
3.1 Ensure timely production of promotions for all events
3.2 Supply accurate information to various electronic and print media
3.3 Develop promotional literature and posters
3.4 Greet and assist the public at the Alderney Landing Visitor Information Kiosk as required
Knowledge:
K1 Familiar with strategic planning, public relations and communication strategies
K2 Experience in the planning of a wide range of activities and events
K3 Working knowledge of computers and word processing software including Power Point, Excel, PageMaker, and content management websites.
K4 Familiarity with the downtown Dartmouth community and its geography
K5 Familiarity with the goals and objectives of a Business Improvement District (BID)
