My name is Tori McLeod. I just moved to downtown Dartmouth and I love it! I'm a university student and summer employee of DDBC. Here are my favourite spots to stop, shop, eat and drink!
The Harbourview walk
The Harbourview walk along the harbour is a great place to start your visit! Walk from one ferry terminal to the other and back. In under 7 km! You’ll see beautiful views of the water, Halifax and the Macdonald bridge.
The DDBC mural
At 163 Portland Street there’s a beautiful light up mural just walking distance from the ferry terminal and Downtown Dartmouth independent shops, restaurants and breweries. Stop in, grab a photo and tag @downtowndartmouth on instagram!
Did you know? There is the cutest consignment shop on Portland Street! Room 154 has everything from Free People clothing to Micheal Kors. Shopping at this small boutique has a personal feel and you can even shop online!
Trainyard General Store
Stop in at this adorable shop right off Portland! They have great gifts for any loved one and for when you want to treat yourself! Everything in the shop is sourced by local makers. They also have personal care items like handmade deodorant, lip balm, non-medical masks and more! Check them out online as well.
Maria’s Pantry & Pasta Bar
Not a conventional shopping spot because they serve the best eat-in pasta around but did you know they have a freezer stocked with delicious treats, eats and more? At Maria’s Pasta you can get their frozen Limoncello, pre-made lasagne, cherry sorbet and more! You can even pick up fresh pasta to take home and cook yourself!
Evans Fresh Seafood
Mmmm summer! Is exactly what I think when I bite into a Scallop Sandwich, Fish and chips, fish burger, lobster roll or ANYTHING on their menu! They also specialize in gluten free! Onion rings, fish and chips you name it! You can also grab lots of seafood products from their store.
One of my favourite places to stop in for a bite is Goodluck Cafe! Their morning pastries are to die for and their lunchtime sandwiches are different everyday and are ALWAYS super delicious. Also! Their coffee is not only amazing but they can pour it over ice cream! Check them out!
Battery Beer Park/Ace Burger
I love this place! Battery Beer Park is the brewery and Ace Burger has the best burgers. They’ve set up their restaurant with dividers for pandemic time, which I actually think is very private for nice date nights! Their patio is also a must see.
Now I live so close to Humble Pie that I can smell their pies cooking! The staff is always so friendly and if they ran out of the pie you wanted they’ll usually make some more! Call ahead to get the goods you’re craving.
This summer my friends and I can’t stop going to the Celtic Corner patio. We love it! Breezy on the hot days and a beautiful view of the harbour. They’ve got great appetizers and mains as well if you’re hungry!
Lake City Cider
Lake City is a favourite in Downtown Dartmouth and even Halifax loves them! Since COVID-19 they do deliveries, plus now they have their patio and store open again! Stop in, say hi and grab a cold cider or their new cucumber & mint hard soda!
Thanks for reading!
