The Downtown Dartmouth Business Commission (DDBC) mission is to champion the vitality of downtown Dartmouth. We actively promote our neighbourhood and businesses through social media, print and broadcast communications. The DDBC organizes events year-round to build community and draw people into our business district. We actively work with entrepreneurs and community partners to recruit new businesses. We also work with community partners to attract visitors from other parts of HRM, the Maritimes, Canada and beyond. In the summer months, we staff information kiosks in both ferry terminals to encourage people to spend time in downtown Dartmouth.

Job Summary

We are looking for someone to help drive the tourism market to downtown Dartmouth. The Tourism Marketing Officer will work both with visitors at our tourism kiosk and with our members & partners to market downtown Dartmouth.

Responsibilities and Duties

You will work independently: assisting visitors to the area; researching best practices to attracting visitors to the district; researching the market by engaging our member businesses, our stakeholders and partners; and developing marketing materials and experiential district based activities that will appear to visitors and assist with the planning and delivery of events to attract visitors to the district.
You will report to the executive director and work closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Office Manager and the DDBC Board.
Qualifications and Skills

You should possess: communication skills; be highly organized; and be passionate about people and tourism.
Be able to work closely with the team to ensure monthly and quarterly goals are being hit and be flexible and willing to pitch in to do whatever is required on a small team.
Be studying marketing, communications, tourism or public relations at the university or college level.
