What do you think of Downtown Dartmouth? What does it mean to you? Let us know. Send your testimonials to Info@downtowndartmouth.ca.

Twelve years ago when we moved to a majestic old home in downtown Dartmouth, most of our friends from " the other side" were skeptical.  In fact, we had a "token party" as our house warming.  Our invitation included one token to get over the bridge and to get home our guests where on their own.

A lot  has happened in 12 years.  We went from being newlyweds buying our first home, to investors in the future of downtown by buying rental properties and preserving the heritage of the downtown.

Downtown Dartmouth has become "our history".  We have built our family here.  We have raised our two young kids in the heart of downtown, where over the last decade " the people in our neighbourhood" have come from every walk of life. Business owners and patrons of the services offered downtown, fellow residents have all watched my kids grow and happy to greet us, usually by name.   A colourful and rich childhood  for a 5 and 10 year old, where the ferry and library is a five minute walk, but if we choose, 5 minutes in the other direction we have Sullivan's Pond and summers at Banook Canoe Club.

We find great humour and pleasure in the fact that those friends that were first skeptical of our choice of downtown Dartmouth now marvel at the life we have built here ….and they come across the harbour for their favourite coffee and croissants!
