Switch Dartmouth

Dartmouth:  Switch Open Street Sundays returns with Switch Dartmouth on Sunday June 4, 2017 in downtown Dartmouth. Roads will be switched on for people, instead of cars, from noon to 4 p.m.  About 5000 people, including community groups, local businesses and artists, are expected to take to the street to showcase what can happen when we think differently about how we use our streets and public spaces.

The Dartmouth route will include Portland Street from Alderney Drive to Prince Albert Road, and Prince Albert Road to Hawthorne Street.  Nearly 2 km of street will be animated with activities that include four live music stages, numerous interactive activity zones and demonstrations from Atlantic Cirque, the Mi'kmaq Friendship Centre, Samba Nova, and Halifax Recreation’s Try-A-Ride and portable Skate Park.  Big Brothers Big Sisters will also be celebrating their 50th Birthday with a street party on Dundas Street, just a few steps away from the Switch route.

We are thrilled TD Bank Group is sponsoring the TD Downtown Dartmouth Day on Portland Street this year.    The TD Downtown Dartmouth Day will feature young musicians including the award-winning the Preston Primos and rising country star Makayla Lynn, as well as games and activities for children.

Switch Dartmouth is brought to you by Planning & Design Halifax and Downtown Dartmouth Business Commission with support from sponsors: Halifax Harbour Bridges, Halifax Regional Municipality, Halifax Recreation, The Coast: Halifax's Weekly, TD, Weldon McInnis, Mix 96.5, Halifax Water  and Bike Week Halifax.  For more info: switchhfx.ca
